La totalité de la musique présentée ici incorpore différentes approches à l’improvisation. La première pièce est constituée de variations sur un air folklorique de Bosnie-Herzégovine; la deuxième est une composition/improvisation structurée; “Soundings” fait partie d’un ensemble d’improvisations libres non-structurées sur lesquelles je travaille depuis longtemps, ainsi que la dernière pièce, qui incorpore également du chant — tout un plaisir à découvrir. L’enregistrement provient d’un concert donné dans l’appartement de Vida Simon et Jack Stanley à Montréal en février 2016, dans la plus pure tradition de ce que la musique de chambre a été et sera toujours; un espace d’écoute intime. — Malcolm Goldstein

All of this music incorporates various aspects of improvisation. The first piece is an extension, set of variations on a Bosnia-Herzegovian folk song; the second piece is a structured improvisation composition; the “soundings”, is an on-going process of open (nothing pre-set) improvisations, as well as the final music with singing —all a delight in discovery. The concert was presented at the apartment of Vida Simon et Jack Stanley in Montréal in February of 2016, as chamber music has always been and will be; an intimate space for listening. — Malcolm Goldstein
