With this first opus, the noise trio Dead Squirrels present a selection of performance recordings from 2016. Spontaneous and wild, Sound Pressure Exercises is a powerful confection of three rather distinct musical approaches. It is where minimalism meets explosions of musical expressionism.
Dead Squirrels is a noise music trio (Alain Lefebvre, Emilie Payeur, Philippe Vandal) occasionally accompanied by a video artist (Pierre Paré-Blais). Drawing from no-input feedback, modular synthesis, stereo field recordings, short loops, traditional instrumentation such as saxophone and drums, as well as electromagnetic signals from everyday devices such as cell phones, power adaptors and remote controls, Dead Squirrels’ music, though purposefully experimental, seeks to capture a certain tension between fluctuation and form. While their aesthetic embraces tests, transgressions and the fragility of the signal devices used to produce their sounds, the trio is equally concerned with achieving a consistency that ultimately develops into a presence of musical form and structure.

Varied sonic collages, colorful as the eye-grabbing album art, twist and turn throughout Rossetto's "Fashion Tape." It's a delightful release that combines the artist's intimate drones with an almost playful plundering of samples and sounds. jckmd

"There is a somewhat paradoxical sense of an industrial landscape and an ostensibly barren, alien world. Dissonances develop and ebb, as do less uneasy elements, purring and whirring in the fog...A thoughtful and deep work for your subconscious to ponder. Side B heads into truly glorious, if subtle, territory"
