L'idée originelle du projet était de faire un album à partir d’enregistrements « live en studio » réalisés en collaboration avec des musiciens improvisateurs montréalais. Ce projet a dû être abandonné en cours de route suite au confinement imposé lors de la pandémie de 2020, mais il a tout de même donné la base de la première pièce de l'album avec Jeanne Côté (Violon).
Concurremment, l'annulation de tournées en Europe a débouché vers une coordination avec des artistes outremer qui ont gracieusement offert des enregistrements de leurs collections. Ces enregistrements ont servi de base sonore pour la composition des pièces.

Les pièces composées sont des remix/mashups de ces enregistrements auxquels sont superposées des improvisations électroniques. Elles ont ensuite été complétées en studio pour assurer une bonne cohésion sonore entre les deux sessions d’enregistrement.

Dominic Jasmin est un improvisateur et compositeur électroacoustique vivant à Montréal. Sa musique se situe aux frontières de la musique actuelle et de la musique acousmatique, mélangeant la nature accidentelle et imprévisible de l'improvisation aux techniques électroacoustiques pour créer une musique qualifiée de « bruit avec une forme » ou « expressioniste-maximaliste ».   

Il travaille deux approches distinctes, l'une avec des sons d'objets et du traitement électronique sur ordinateur, l'autre avec des synthétiseurs physiques et une guitare.   

Il est également membre du duo noise Chayer/Jasmin.

The original idea for this project was to make an album of studio recordings with live improvising musicians from Montreal, project which was abandoned due to the 2020 pandemic lockdown. Nonetheless, the first piece of the album is based on studio recordings with Jeanne Côté (Violin).
Concurrently, the cancellation of European tours led to a coordination with artists abroad, through which they were asked to submit recordings from their personal collection to be used as the sonic basis of the album.

The composed pieces present themselves as remixes or mashups of these recordings, layered with electronic improvisations. The pieces were finally reworked in the studio to create sonic cohesion with the pre-recorded material.

Dominic Jasmin is an improviser and electroacoustic composer from Montreal. His work explores the boundaries between free improvisation and acousmatic music, bringing the accidental and unpredictable nature of the former to the studio techniques of the latter. The result has been qualified of « formed noise » and « expressionist maximalism ».  

He maintains two distinct approaches to his music, one with found sound sampling and computer processing, the other with guitar and hardware synthesizers.  

He is also a member of the improvised noise duo Chayer/Jasmin.
